Romania 1999

Total Solar Eclipse

In 1999, three of us drove across Europe to Romania to see the Total Solar Eclipse from the top of Cârja in the Parâng mountains in Transylvania.

Peter's eclipse photo montage - it tells the whole story!

The video was taken with a Sony Handycam on maximum non-digital zoom. Click the images to run the YouTube videos. If you are able to run the two videos side-by-side note that the clock in the zoomed view is on Romanian time while the clock in the side view is on UK time, two hours behind - otherwise they are exactly synchronised. The still shots were taken with a Tamron 500mm mirror lens with a 2x converter and a Pentax P30n film camera using Kodachrome 64 film.
